EMBRACING OUR DISASTER-PIECES, ONE STEP AT TIME!

Welcome to DisasterPiece!

We want to reshape the way younger generations perceive failure—in relationships, in education, and in work—by helping them learn how to face it constructively. Our goal is to promote a new paradigm of failure: the generative one. This means viewing failure as a valuable moment to pause, reflect, rethink, let go of certain things, or hold on to others.

We reject both the stigmatization of failure and the overly romantic idea that it is simply a stepping stone to success. Instead, we aim to restore dignity to failure, recognizing it as a natural and ordinary part of life—something to face and inhabit with awareness.

We want to educate young people about failure, harnessing the power of stories—especially those of people who ultimately found success—through engaging videos and podcasts.

This is

An Erasmus+ project: small in scale, but with revolutionary ambitions!

Activities

A research on the concept of failure, exploring how it has evolved and how different societies and cultures interpret it. This will help us build a solid knowledge base for our “generative failure” paradigm

An analysis of stories of ‘successful’ failures, experienced by both public figures and ordinary individuals. We will study these to identify common threads—specific actions or attitudes that helped transform destructive failures into opportunities for personal, professional, and relational growth

A collection of real stories of generative failures, shared by ordinary people—not superheroes—who’ve lived them. These “disaster-pieces” will form a digital museum, with videos on social media and our website, as a tool for youth workers to inspire young people

A podcast series, available on major streaming platforms, sharing stories, testimonials, and informal conversations about failure—anything that can help young people either escape the darkness they’re experiencing, or at least furnish it and light it up while waiting for better times

A testing and feedback collection for our toolkit (which includes case studies, video stories, and podcasts), in collaboration with youth workers and groups of young people at risk of failure. This phase will help us fine-tune and improve the project’s outcomes.
